The Management Board of DPK sp. z o. o. met the Management of LHS – our client for over 10 years. The subject of the meeting was to negotiate the continuation of the license agreement and maintenance of the DPK Railways system for the next 3 years. An agreement has been reached, and another License Agreement for a period until 2026 will be concluded in the coming days. LHS – Broad Gauge Metallurgical Line operates rolling stock in the Ukrainian Railways standard. The wide track runs from the border with Ukraine near Chełm to Sławków in Silesia.
The line was built about 50 years ago as a Smelter and Sulfur Line, iron ore was transported to Poland, and sulfur from Tarnobrzeg was transported the other way, to the Soviet Union. Currently, LHS transports iron ore, grain and agricultural products from Ukraine to Huta Katowice, and humanitarian aid and weapons are exported to Ukraine in the other direction. It was planned to extend the line to the Czech Republic and include it in the new Silk Road from China to Europe, but the war forced the plans to be postponed. The LHS company also prospers in war conditions.
